The launch of Ghana’s flagship agricultural initiative, the Feed Ghana Programme, has been rescheduled to Saturday, April 12, 2025. Originally planned for an earlier date, the event was postponed to accommodate other critical government engagements requiring President John Dramani Mahama’s presence. The launch will take place at the Methodist School Park in Techiman, Bono East Region .
The Feed Ghana Programme aims to revolutionize the country’s agricultural sector by enhancing food security, boosting productivity, and creating sustainable employment opportunities. Key components of the initiative include the establishment of farmers’ service centers, promotion of grain and legume cultivation, and the adoption of advanced technologies such as controlled environment farming and greenhouse cultivation. Additionally, the programme seeks to strengthen institutional farming through partnerships with national institutions and religious organizations, rejuvenate the poultry industry via a new “farm to table” project, and develop the oil palm sector to reduce the country’s consumption gap .Foreign Affairs Ministry
The University of Ghana has officially joined the initiative through its institutional commercial farming arm, bringing valuable academic expertise and research-backed practices into national food production efforts .
The launch event is expected to draw key stakeholders, including policymakers, farmers, and development partners, as the government reiterates its commitment to transforming Ghana’s agricultural landscape.
